Fuel System

The fuel system or systems on most modern cars trucks and sport utility SUV vehicles generally all in all consists of the following components – gas tank, fuel pump, filter and electronic fuel injection. Older vehicles might be discovered to be sporting a simpler though less exact carburetor or carburetor fuel delivery system. Obviously add to the mix fuel lines for connecting the entire system together so that your gasoline starved motor gets fuel.

Basically put together when your engine is “running” and propelling you in the future on your journey gasoline is drawn through the fuel pump and delivered with the fuel filter or filters and delivered to your motor cylinders for firing through the fuel injectors.

Today’s vehicles are designed with an electronic fuel injection (EFI), which guarantees the right amount of gas is delivered to each cylinder. Avoid starting problems and engine related topics such as stagnation in idle, failing, and lack of energy during acceleration.

As with all components, however, the time and use will gradually take their toll. The individual parts of your fuel system is made less effective, and ultimately can not work at all. When this happens, you will experience one or more of these issues.

The aim of this paper is to help identify problems that prevent the fuel system properly. Because there are many parts that can affect this system, we focus primarily on the diagnosis of a “crack, but no start” problem. We’ll also assume the other two sides of the equation of combustion – compression and power – is fine.
