Cooling System

Checking Your Car’s Cooling System

Checking Your Car's Cooling SystemPeriodic inspection of a vehicle’s cooling system is a task that can be done by anyone, not even experts in the automotive field. This inspection is very important, especially during the spring season when cars easily experience overheating due to poorly maintained cooling system.

Unfortunately most owners face the problem in the cooling system when it is severe.

Car owners are advised to ensure that there is insufficient coolant or antifreeze in the system. Inspect the antifreeze or coolant level is easier with many late-model cars with semi-transparent plastic coolant reservoirs.

Mobile Auto experts say that a vehicle must also have the antifreeze or coolant 50:50 and water mixture.

The length of the coolant mixture is as important as the mixing ratio. This is because the coolant contains corrosion inhibitors that are vital to the life of the engines.

Spring Car Checkup – Cooling System

Spring Car Checkup - Cooling SystemWe made the turn to spring and summer not far away. You should be getting the car ready for warmer temperatures. With this in mind, take a look at the problems of the cooling system in this article.

The cooling system is a fairly simple mechanism. The aim of the whole system is to collect and distribute heat. This is accomplished by running through the key areas of the engine where the coolant absorbs heat away from moving engine parts. The coolant is pumped to the radiator where the coolant runs out through a field of metal exposed to air on us. The heat in the refrigerant circulating in the air and begins his return coolant to the engine. (more…)

When to Service Your Car’s Cooling System

Your vehicle is based on your cooling system for proper operation. Have your cooling system checked and maintained regularly may help keep things in good working order. When to Service Your Car's Cooling SystemOthers just run the cooling system periodically, there are other things you can do to keep your cooling system works well.

Since other components (pins, pistons, bearings and crankshaft, for example) can be damaged if the cooling system not working properly, you should have your cooling system checked at least once a year. Some newer vehicles tend to trap air, which can reduce the air outlet – engine damage.

Look through your owner’s manual of your car to see what kind of service is recommended, you may need to purge the system and, of course, make sure your deposits are fully completed. If you are unsure about what it takes to fill and when, ask your mechanic for advice (or get it for you).

Flush The Cooling System On Your Car, or Truck

Flush The Cooling System On Your Car, or TruckYour cooling system should be flushed every two years. No, I’m not crazy, but with all the new chemicals in use today, literally eat the rubber hoses and deteriorate the heater core and radiator core.

They have a drain pan under the drain plug, or the lower radiator hose and drain the coolant. EPA does not want to let it run into the ground – it will contaminate Earth!

Make sure the engine is cold! Hot antifreeze burning dramatically and will burn, too!

If you can get the drain plug (it is sometimes difficult to reach) you can put a piece of hose 3 / 8 inch in it. Put the other end into the drain pan and open the drain plug. This will allow the liquid to drain into the drain pan – that way all the liquid goes into the drain pan and not spread out and drip all over the place. Remove the radiator cap.

If desired, and is much faster, you can remove the lower radiator hose from the radiator. Be careful, however, does not break your neck on the radiator – which is a no-no.

Better to have the drain plug open, however, when you start washing. (more…)
